1971 Mercury couger gt - Toney, AL

This is a very rare and hard to find Cougar GT. 1 of approximately 700 Cougar GT's produced in 1971. It was specifically produced as the replacement for the discontinued Cougar Eliminator of 1969/70, and only 1/3rd as many were made as the Eliminators!! While not as dramatic as the Eliminators, it is nevertheless, a great find for the Mercury
This is a bright compaction blue car (love it or hate it, but that's the color) with white interior. It has very little rust, very solid body having spent it’s life in the north Alabama It wears it's second paint which is pretty thin in places but allows you to see that there is no previous body work on this car. The interior needs some work as it is sun-baked. Seats and upholstery in better shape than the hard plastic, but nothing is model specific, so it is easy to find. The drive train is a 351C-4V (M-Code) with C6 automatic transmission with the famous Ford 9" rear end. This is a very desirable drive train combination inasmuch as the engine has the very high flowing Cleveland 4V heads. (engine compartment). All the car is there, all trim is intact. Wheels are stored in my basement . This is a very easy project to get you a very scarce car. I drove this car into the parking space, but it hasn't been started in a year. It is being sold as a non-driver at this time. It will need to be tailored or dollied to it’s new home for fluid change out and a tune-up.
It requires really very little to have the rarest cat of all at the car shows!
